Municipality of Petralia Soprana

Petralia Soprana is an Italian town of 2975 inhabitants in the metropolitan city of Palermo, in Sicily. It is part of the Madonie Park and it is the second highest municipality in Sicily. The town is included in the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy and has been proclaimed "Borgo dei borghi 2018". The Municipality of Petralia Soprana has adopted several solutions for energy efficiency including the replacement of old lamps with the latest generation Light Emitting Diode (LED) in the historic center; and the installation of photovoltaic panels on some buildings such as the headquarters of the Istituto Comprensivo in the Old Town, as well as the primary and childhood schools of the City, the Delegazione Municipale located in Pianello (fraction of Petralia Soprana) in Madonnuzza (fraction of Petralia Soprana), the Depurator in Contrada Saccù and the changing rooms of the sports fields by Petralia Soprana and Trinità (fraction of Petralia Soprana). Other photovoltaic panels will be soon installed at the Municipal House located in the Piazza del Popolo and the Municipal Library. This is also the place of the realization of an energy efficiency project, and is aiming at the transformation of all other public lighting systems, including those owned by ENEL, the cost of which is borne by the budget of the Municipality.
